Absolutely! Dogs on a lead are most welcome in the main bar, the Long bar and the gardens. The Snug is dog-free. Please let us know when booking whether you will have your furry friend with you so we can accommodate you in the right area. We have dog bowls for water and even offer a dog menu!
Well behaved children are most welcome in this grade II listed building. We do however have a policy that children stay at the table please, not running around the pub or gardens (the gardens are landscaped and do not have play equipment) and they must be supervised by an adult at all times. This is both for our safety and theirs, and for the peaceful enjoyment of other guests. We have highchairs available upon request.
We find that accessing The Snug straight from the road gives the best access, but as the building is listed and dates back to the 1540’s, there are sadly no disabled toilets available. The pub has a couple of single steps within it. Please let us know if you’re visiting in a wheelchair and we will earmark a table in The Snug for you.
The garden operates on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis and we do not take bookings specifically for the garden, only for tables indoors.
Absolutely! We can offer various parts of the pub for private hire for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, wakes and more. Please speak to Kate or Kev to find out more.
We have a small car park at the front of the property, which if you park prettily, can accommodate up to 12 cars. There is also on-street parking (in particular, down the side of the pub) and for busy days such as Mother’s Day and the beer festival, parking is also available at Bramfield Village Hall, with kind permission of the Parish Councillors. Please avoid parking on the A144 if possible for safety reasons.
You are most welcome to do both, but to avoid disappointment, we’d strongly recommend booking in advance. Not only does this help us understand how many guests we are looking after, it also bags you the nicest tables!
We certainly do! There’s no log in code and guests are welcome to hop online.
We already have a chosen charity, The Pear Tree Fund in Halesworth, who we have so far raised over £21,000 for. We also support both of our local village schools. Therefore, with regret, we are unable to help with any further charity requests.
We certainly do. Our gift vouchers are available in any denomination of your choosing and can be redeemed against drinking, dining in and takeaways. You can purchase gift vouchers by popping in or giving us a call to arrange. We can post vouchers to you with a postage fee of £2.
Yes, but being relatively rural there’s no Uber here (we have been asked! Blast, we laughed!) many of the taxis are ‘one man bands’ rather than companies, so we would strongly recommend booking them well in advance. Our very favourite is the lovely Pete at Voltaire Taxis – he’s just down the road in Walpole and his number is 07961 952793. Please ask us at the bar for a full list of numbers.
We certainly do. We’ve a real love for both real ales and craft beers, and we serve three local real ales on rotation. You’ll find us in the 2025 & 2026 CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
